Free food and alcohol-free drinks for all!
Part 1: Keeping Grace in Mind welcomes Minnesota based musicians XINA & Ricki Monique. This event will also feature Omaha harpist Kim Meyer and poet Jewel Rodgers.
Keeping Grace in Mind will commence the Sunday Soul series, highlighting music and poetry for part 1. Each Sunday Soul honors a fem change maker, and for this one it’s bell hooks. Jewel Rodgers will be performing new work and citing some of bell hooks writings to honor the ancestor who taught us so much about love, feminism, and black liberation.
Sunday Soul is free and open to the public, light refreshments and dinner will be served. The purpose of this series is to showcase incredibly talented women and we’re off to a good start with this lineup. I hope to see you there- you don't want to miss it!

Open Omaha is everyone’s chance to catch a behind-the-scenes look at the fascinating spaces that shape our city.
Whispered Like the Wind tackles a sense of self and an ancestral sense of place. The evening's performance will begin with Dvořák's The American Quartet, selected as a compliment to the rooting in history and African American spirituals and work songs. Charles Ives' The Unanswered Question follows this and bridges styles between the Dvořák and the Gre, while also asking the greater question of “why.” Gre’s piece also features a solo cellist she brings with her on the project. Omaha Symphony's Ian Passmore conducts.
